Remote delivery of transit tickets and top-up
Over-the-Air (OTA) provisioning of transit ticket offers significant benefits for the application issuers and consumers. OTA provisioning is a process whereby the ticket issuer can securely download and personalize a public transport ticket application into the Secure Element of the consumer’s NFC handset. As different transport operators and authorities issuing tickets have different requirements and process in place, the OTA services need be configured according to the requirements of individual issuer.
When using transportation tickets, the consumer usually needs to also recharge value to the ticket application. Since mobile phones enable online connectivity ticket value can be recharged Over-the-Air independent of time and place. This type of top-up functionality is a true benefit for consumer and a significant differentiating factor for issuer.
